Child Safe Commitment

Child Safe & Safeguarding Commitment

Our Zero-Tolerance Approach Door of Hope Australia (DOHA) is deeply committed to the welfare, rights, and dignity of all children. We have a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse and any form of exploitation. We believe every child has the right to feel safe and be safe, regardless of their race, colour, sex, language, religion, ethnic origin, disability, or status. This commitment applies to all individuals under the age of 18.

Our Standards of Conduct While DOHA works through local partners rather than providing direct child-facing services, children remain our primary stakeholders. We require all staff, volunteers, and partners to:

  • Treat every child with the utmost respect and dignity.
  • Act as positive role models who listen to and value the voices of children.
  • Adhere to our strict Code of Conduct and Child Safeguarding Policy, which prohibits any form of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse.
  • Practice positive discipline; physical or corporal punishment of any kind is strictly forbidden in any project supported by DOHA.

Legal & Ethical Compliance DOHA is committed to complying with all relevant Australian and local international legislation regarding child rights, including strict adherence to international labor laws as they apply to children.

Safeguarding & PSEAH In line with ACFID standards, DOHA is committed to the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH). We maintain clear reporting channels for any concerns or suspicions of harm, ensuring that the safety and “best interest of the child” always come first.
